Gibson's Fabulous Flat-Top Guitars by Eldon Whitford: Book Cover                        Gibson's Fabulous Flat-Top Guitars

Eldon spent nearly a decade researching and doing the initial writing for this top-selling book.  His partners in this project were world-famous instrument repair ace, Dan Erlewine, and the late David Vinopal, who provided the editing duties.

It was first released in 1994.  The second edition came out in 2009.  It can be purchased at major on-line book stores.

The book chronicles Gibson flat-tops from their origin in 1926 through 1994.  Post 1994 models are listed in the second edition.  The book is loaded with photos, as well as rarely found details about the many models producted by Gibson over the years.  The book contains a unique blend of Gibson history  merged with American culture.

An accomplished musician, Eldon performs with Gibson guitars, for the best of that old vintage sound.  He and Ann, his wife and performing partner, most often use the following guitars in their travels:  a 1953 Gibson Southern Jumbo, a 1999 Gibson Custom Shop J-185 built especially for him, and a 2006 Gibson J-45 Legend, a clone of Eldon's 1942 J-45.  (For more on the J-45 Legend, google:  Eldon Whitford Michelle Obama.)
